Back to black – drama that is warm and welcoming

Amidst the complete renovation of this eclectic mews house, with its demanding architecture and local historical significance, Hubble designed and installed the bedroom and kitchen furniture to ensure all the interior styling blended in beautifully.

The matt-lacquered Leicht kitchen in Slate Black, combines with the dark worn structure of worksurface and splashbacks in Laos from Dekton that are complemented by the matt black Quooker Fusion tap and Blanco Sublin Silgranit sink and panel shoes. The overall effect is one of warmth and modernity yet gives a subtle nod to the industrial past of this ex-brewery property.

The surfaces, with the latest in fingerprint-free technology, brings hidden practicality to the design; it enhances the smooth yet rugged dark matt finishes whilst highlighting the light oak floor. The dark, rich tones of the kitchen are managed by the ambient light from Leicht’s LED handle rails and task lighting that colour match the back lighting of the 3-zone Liebherr wine cabinet. Black really can soften the scheme.

Believe it or not, this is a compact kitchen, with washing machines, appliances and even a boiler all elegantly concealed behind the streamlined architectural furniture that Leicht is best known for. Clever solutions are complemented by the remarkably efficient suite of Siemens studioLine appliances with combination steam, combination microwave and warming drawers; these appliances offer six transformative cooking methods within just two modules!

It’s a comfortable space and, for the customer, their sanctuary rests at the sleek island layout, only made possible with BORA’s latest flush-mounted XPure venting hob.

  After obtaining quotes from various large retailers, kitchen designers and carpenters we decided on a German kitchen and contacted Hubble as a local company to us. We had some ideas about the design of our kitchen and Tyler from Hubble was the only designer we saw didn’t “go along” entirely with our thoughts.  His approach demonstrated his skill, expertise and understanding in what would work in our tricky, long kitchen space.  We were impressed with the consultation and design process, iterating until it was perfect.  The showrooms are fantastic examples of the quality and finish.   Hubble designed a lovely, modern kitchen which has been admired by many visitors.  They helped me keep to my tight budget by suggesting a melamine door, which looks and feels stunning,  while having a painted island in a different colour to add contracts and interest.  I had chosen an Adobe boiling water tap on price, which was a big mistake as it was useless, but Hubble arrange to have it replaced with a Quooker while I just paid the difference in the new price.  Great service and a friendly bunch of people.
